Why I Do What I Do

As I am SWAMPED this week with sessions I wanted to take the time and "remember" why I do what I do.

I remember one year ago (actually a little longer than that) when I decided to start my business I made a promise that I would give God the glory for my gift of photography. Although I have failed many times...there are still times when I think and pray and thank God for blessing me tremendously with this passion. And that is exactly what it is...a passion.

I remember reading a while back on someone else's blog about a photographer who charges $20,000 (that's right I'm not messing up those zeros) for a workshop to teach others his skill. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? That alone made me stop and think, "what is he doing this for?".

I've been told several times that I could raise my prices. Although I am flattered and so grateful that people love my work...I am not doing this for the money. Yes it's nice...I was able to save money and get a new computer (which I desperately needed)...I was able to pay off my camera and buy a new lense and in the summer (when I'm busy) it compensates for Brian's slow time. It's been a tremendous blessing but that is NOT why I do it. Like I said above this is a passion!!!!

I want to capture God's divine creation for you to hold onto forever. He created us in His image and we are each unique and beautiful in our own way. It's my desire to capture that and let you hold onto that beauty forever. I have lost loved ones in my life and OH how I wish I had better pictures of them and I know that is the same for others as well. I want to be there to encourage families to capture every stage in life with good, priceless, beautiful pictures. But how can families do that if they cannot afford it?

So no, I will not be raising my prices. I am not in it to get your money and break you :). I really and truly want you to have beautiful pictures that you can hold onto for forever. This is why I do what I do :)
